When Raymond Esposito was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in 1997, his father Neil was inspired to take action by the belief that one family could make a difference. Already a passionate philanthropist, he started the Raynbow Foundation to honor his son and raise awareness and funds for T1D research.
When Neil passed away in 1999, his mother Anne Esposito along with his sister and brother-in-law Donna and Jeff Hughes took over the leadership of the Foundation to continue the legacy of giving that Neil had started.
The Foundation hosts an annual golf tournament that has raised more than $500,000 to date for JDRF. In addition, the family has made generous gifts through the Promise Ball and other events bringing their total giving to more than $673,000. Carrying on the family tradition of advocacy, Raymond is currently serving his second term on the chapter’s Board of Directors.
In recognition of their tireless commitment to JDRF and their efforts to create a world without T1D, we are delighted to honor the Esposito Hughes family with the 2017 Star of Hope award.
